Rock Bottom

At first, I didn’t see her—

the figure floating in the thick of it,

drifting through a river that looked

too murky, too heavy to hold life.

The painting was longer once.

But then it dropped—literally—

and something about the fall

shifted the whole perspective.

That’s when I saw her:

not fighting the current,

not drowning,

just… coasting.
